Acetylene is a colorless (with a slight garlic odor when produced by the calcium carbide method) flammable gas with an explosion range of 2.5-81% (one of the widest gases). It is unstable at pressures > 0.15 MPa and prone to self-detonation. It has low anesthetic effect.
