Hazards & Toxic Symptoms
1-Iodopropane is an alkane combustible gas or liquid (saturated hydrocarbon chain), which is colorless and flammable. When mixed with air, it forms an explosive mixture. It has low toxicity itself, and the main risks are: ① fire explosion (lower explosion limit usually 1-10%); ② high concentration in enclosed spaces displaces oxygen, leading to simple asphyxia; ③ long-term exposure to high concentrations may cause mild anesthesia and dizziness. Alkanes heavier than air tend to accumulate on the ground/in low-lying areas. Storage sites must be equipped with LEL monitoring and forced ventilation.
