Methyl ethyl ether is an ether (C-O-C structure), mostly as highly flammable liquid or gas, with strong anesthetic effect in vapor. It has a low lower explosion limit and can be ignited by electrostatic sparks. Long-term storage may generate peroxides (which can explode upon shock or heating). It must be stored away from light and heat, and peroxides must be regularly detected. Commonly used PID monitoring.
