Hazards & Toxic Symptoms
Chlorine is a yellow-green gas with a pungent odor and is highly toxic, heavier than air. Low concentrations irritate the upper respiratory tract, while high concentrations can cause fatal pulmonary edema. It can be detected at a concentration of 0.1 ppm. Chlorine was used as a chemical weapon during World War I.
