Carbon monoxide is a highly toxic gas that is colorless, odorless, and non-irritating (extremely concealed). Its affinity for hemoglobin is 240 times that of O₂, leading to tissue hypoxia. Low concentrations can cause headaches and nausea; exposure to 1500 ppm within one hour can be fatal.
