Carbon disulfide is a colorless, volatile liquid, and its vapor is highly toxic and flammable. It can damage the nervous system (leading to polyneuritis and psychiatric symptoms) and the cardiovascular system. With a low ignition point (90°C), it forms explosive mixtures with air.
