Krypton is an inert gas (chemically stable and non-toxic) but its leakage in a confined space can displace oxygen, leading to simple asphyxia - oxygen levels < 19.5% cause hypoxia, < 16% cause headache and decreased judgment, and < 6% can be fatal within minutes. It is commonly used in semiconductor protective gas, welding protective gas, low-temperature experiments, medical anesthesia, and other scenarios. Monitoring strategy: Backward inference through an O₂ sensor (alarm when O₂ < 19.5%).
