Disulfur decafluoride is a fluorine-containing compound, generally characterized by strong toxicity and corrosivity. Fluoride ions can bind with tissue calcium, leading to deep necrosis; its vapor irritates the respiratory tract, causing delayed pulmonary edema (with a latency period of 4-48 hours). It is commonly used in semiconductor etching, fluorine chemical synthesis, and as a raw material for polymers. For storage, dedicated fluorine-resistant materials must be used, equipped with specialized fluorine sensors and eye wash stations/showers.
